I purchased the BacTrack S80 in August from amazon and I am extremely pleased with the product. First and probably most important, it seems to give very accurate results. Three years ago I received one of those cheap keychain units as a gift and it read all over the map and never worked well. Here, with this product, if I test myself 3 times in a row I get the same test result 3 times, so you know it's consistent. And if I test a sober person and then a very drunk person, there is no crossover or contamination, which is something I worried about (and really researched) before this purchase. So $199 is not cheap, but you get what you pay for here in terms of accuracy.

Besides being happy with the accuracy, I really like the small size. I have an LG Envy phone and the Bactrack S80 is almost the same size. I didn't consider size prior to my purchase, but because it's portable, I'm much more likely to take the BacTrack out when I drink, which is really the whole point of having it.

I appreciate the advanced features and being able to adjust the flow settings, but mainly I just turn it on and test. As of today, I'm already on test # 144. Yeah, it's been passed around and used by a lot of people already. 5 stars for its accuracy and reliability alone.

I normally don't write reviews but felt like I had to with the S80. This is a really great unit. I can't beleive how small and how accuarate the readings are. My friend is a police office and we tested the S80 against one of his units and they were dead on with the readings. I had bought some cheaper units in the past that didn't seem to work too well but the S80 is the real deal. Definitely worth paying a few bucks more to get the real deal.

After girlfriend got a DUI, I bought her one of these. She was skeptical, but after testing it many nights in a row (drinking in the name of research of course), we were pleasantly surprised to find it very accurate. It's expensive but its absolutely worth it for the quality. I can't believe that the police are the only ones who have access to these. By the time you're using it with a cop, its usually too late. FYI - the instructions say that you want to wait 15 to 20 minutes after you've had a drink, otherwise it'll pick up the alcohol still in your mouth and read too high.
The one I ordered came promptly with nice packaging. I'm here on Amazon because I'm ordering another one for myself.

I have owned the B70 for a few years now and it was a great product. It has saved my friends and I many times, and also provided some great entertainment.

I just got the new S80 and I'm very impressed with the improvements that have been made. First, it is easier to use correctly (simply blow into like normally as opposed to "fogging the mirror" like the B70). This has made it simpler for people who don't use the breathalyzer often to get accurate readings.

I also really like the extra digit of precision this model offers, particularly when approaching the .08 number ;)

I've had a breathalyzer for years now and I can't recommend enough that people own one. This product is MUCH cheaper than the costs of any DUI you would ever get.

I believe this model to be much more accurate than my $100 alcomate. I say this as a group of us can do multiple back-to-back tests, and come back to someone and have the same results as our original test. You can't go wrong with this purchase!

I am an engineer and was impressed with the design specifications of the S80. I've actually experimented with a number of different breathalyzers over the years but this is the one I own. I wanted one that the cops use. I mostly use it for fun when drinking with my friends. It was interesting to see how each drink incremently increased your BAC. It's not bad information to have before going out.

After getting my first breathalyzer a few years ago, I can't imagine ever going without one again. When I passed my old breathalyzer off to my younger brother, I started shopping around online for a new one and found this. It's definitely more expensive than the last one I got, but when I read about the fuel cell sensor I figured it's worth a little more to get the most accurate unit. The best part is it's even smaller than the last one, so when I go out I can stick it in my pocket without it being obvious. Definitely recommend it!

8.) Peace of mind

I did quite a bit of research before buying this model. I live in Minnesota where alchohol offenses are having increasingly onerous penalties. Not to mention the life changing risk you face if you accidentally kill someone while under the influence. There is no excuse to ever get a DUI if you own one of these and use it correctly. We own a boat and like to spend the days on the lake tipping a few back - well you run the risk of having your vehicle confiscated if you are over the limit, among quite a few other penalties. The S80 always gives an accurate result and gives us the confidence to have a few and know where we stand from a BAC standpoint. Once we had my sister use it - she had been drinking "wine" all day - I was confused when her reading came back as 0.00 - turns out she was drinking grape juice and pretending it was wine.

I have owned mine for over a year and have had no problems what-so-ever. If you like to drink at all and have a lot to lose if caught for DUI - this is a must have. The price seems like a bargain when you are the mitigating the risks of far great costs and/or potentially jail time.

9.) Be prepared to blow hard!

Excellent product and was even more impressed with the manufacturer. The unit allows you to select the length of time and relative force necessary to start the test. I found that even at the lowest force setting, I was only able to make the unit register my breath once, rest of the time I got an error message indicating I hadn't blown hard enough. I am not a smoker, nor do I have any breathing problems. The unit does have a "user" setting which worked flawlessly every time.

I returned my first unit to the manufacturer describing the problem above. As soon as they received the unit and verified its functioning, they personally called me to learn how I was attempting to use it. No errors in what I was doing were found, but they shipped me a brand new unit anyway with absolutely no fuss. It works exactly like the first one, so I've contented myself to use the customized "user" setting and forget about any of the preprogrammed settings. Guess it's not a problem even though the manual notes that a harder, deeper "blow" will provide the most accuracy.

Unit is attractive, compact, and the manufacturer KHN is absolutely amazing in their customer support.

I used this for the first time tonight to make sure I was ok to drive after leaving an Orioles game in Baltimore. It seemed pretty consistent when comparing it to a BAC chart. I weigh 155 lbs and started drinking around 6:30 pm.... I had a total of 4 beers and one shot of 80 proof liquor. At my peak I blew a .14. When I got in my car at 11:05 pm I blew a .08. I blew 4 more times to be sure and it stayed around that much. As I played with it more throughout the evening and morning my BAC would decrease around .01 every 40-45 minutes. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because in the manual it only guarantees an accurate reading between .032 and .008 ......

11.) Very Poor Packaging!!!

There are two parts to this rating: The product gets a 5 star rating, and the merchant gets 1 star rating for very poor packaging. The breathalyzer works extremely well. Unfortunately, HRM shipped it in a lightly padded paper envelope which arrived smashed almost flat. I fully expected to find the breathalyzer in pieces, but unbelievably, it survived without a scratch. I would purchase this product again, but I would purchase from a different vendor. This item should have been shipped in a second (protective) box. Additionally, the Amazon website didn't recognize the 10% off HRM discount code. BTW, I got the code from links on the Amazon website.

12.) Unit doesn't work

I don't know about all the great reviews but my unit (received Dec.22/09) works only on about 10% of the tests. After having two shots of vodka or two shots of tequila it shows 0.000. After a pint of strong European beer another 0.000. I follow all the manufacturer instructions and still poor results. Only a couple of times the unit indicated some reading. Now I am waiting for a replacement.
