For reference I am low advanced, used the black power bands, and followed the advanced modifier when I could. I absolutely LOVE this set. It is challenging and fun w/ NO dread factor. I have lost 4 lbs in 4 weeks with it and just started my 5th week.

Cindy Whitmarsh actually leads the workouts. I think she is a good lead-not too overzealous, not too serious. Barry walks around and says things like "great abs arent made in the gym, theyre made in the kitchen so be sure to eat right too" and pushes down on exercisers shoulders for added resistance. He is quirky and I liked him too. They show a beginner and an advanced modifier with Cindy doing intermediate. There is a countdown banner on the bottom of the screen that counts down each minute. I find it less intrusive than the banner on the SS w/o's. A buzzer goes off at the 10 seconds remaining mark and Cindy, Barry & crew countdown. The music is good IMO, upbeat, not annoying or too loud.

The kit comes with 3 dvds. There is a lower body dvd, upper body dvd, and a code red (get fit quick in 6 days) dvd. The upper and lower body dvds each have a 21 minute w/o and 6 additional Mission Specialist w/o's on them. The MS w/o's are 12 min each and are: upper body-beginner, lowerbody-beginner, abs-beginner, upper body-advanced, lower body-advanced, and abs-advanced. The kit also comes w/ resistance cord handles and 2 strengths of interchangable resistance bands. The green band is level 1 (beginner strength) and the black is level 3 of 4. It also comes w/ a torpedo shaped ball, the Transformer. The transformer ball is used as a weight bench, stability ball, and a prop for cardio & strength moves. The resistance bands can go around the ball while you are laying on it-so you can do bench press for example.

Lower Body Fat Blaster: it is 21 minutes plus a short warmup. The moves are bootcamp type moves and each exercise lasts for only one minute, alternating between strength and cardio moves. The moves included crabwalks w/ the band, mountain climbers, squats & lunges w/ and w/out the band, one legged hops, etc. It was tough! Because each exercise only lasts 1 minute it is very doable-but still tough. In between exercises you have 30 seconds to "rest" which is used to put down your band, get your ball, etc and introduce the next move. I kept my feet moving during the 30 seconds. My HR really stayed up the entire workout.

Upper Body Fat Blaster: The workout is 21 minutes plus a short warmup. There is a beginner and advanced modifier throughout. Each exercise is one minute with a 30 second "rest" inbetween that is used to set up the next move and get your ball or cord ready. She alternates strength and cardio moves. Some of the exercises include pec flys on the transformer ball using the cords, blow-outs (including a hop at the end-TOUGH!), fast run then down to a Mt. Climber on Barry's cue, upper cuts using the cords, jumping jacks pushing the transformer ball back and forth, tricep dips off the ball (TOUGH), etc. My only complaint is that the bands seemed too long when wrapped around the ball-too much slack to make the moves challenging. I ended up switching to dumbbells for those moves. You can use 2 bands in the handles at once, which would make it tougher but that seemed like a lot of extra work.

Mission Specialist Lower Body (Beginner): 1 minute segments, each one focused on the lower body. The exercises had a cardio effect but
were all toning exercises. It uses the bands and the ball. Some of the moves were done on the floor and some standing. The exercises were different than in the main lower body w/o. Both a beginner and an advanced option wereshown.

Mission Specialist Upper Body (Beginner): All strength moves in one minute increments. There are 8 exercises, most using the ball and/or the tubing. The moves were different than in the main UB w/o and included push-ups off the ball, tricep extensions w/ the cord, bicep curls w/ the cord, etc.

Mission Specialist Abs (Beginner): Ab work done in 1 minute increments. Used the ball and the bands in some of the exercises. Most were done on the floor or ball. Both a beginner and an advanced option were shown.

Mission Specialist Abs (Advanced): Ab work done in 1 minute increments. This was mostly floor work on and off the ball, included Russion twists, jack knives on the ball, bicycle abs w/ the ball, V-sits w/ the ball, etc.

I hate going to the gym, and working out. I could never get motivated on my own - so I didn't do it anymore. I saw Barry's Bootcamp infomercial and bought the DVD system with low expectations. (I've bought other at home workouts and couldn't get into them, but this looked...fun?) Barry's kinda goofball/meets the Energizer Bunny, but within minutes of my 1st workout I was sweating like a pig, and my arms were sore the next day. I like the intense 1 minute exercises, the workout calendar that tells me what to do each day, the fact that I was able to start off gradually and add more each week. It's my 4th week and I've added another rubber band to the handles. Love that!

I like the Barry's Bootcamp website where you can figure out a food plan, ask Barry questions (and he answers), and get support from other peeps on the Bootcamp community board.

But here's the real reason I like this program: My pants are falling down `cause I lost 2" off my waist! I'm 40 and I have my 30 year old energy levels back. I'm not stopping `til I get abs! And they're coming!

People are complaining that the Transformer is smaller than on the DVD. I inflated mine, gave it a day to relax/stretch, and then blew it up a lot bigger. It's easy with the foot pump provided.

I am also down 3 inches off the waist and hps. one inch off each thigh, one inch off each bicep. my strength energy libido and level of excitement grows everyday, as I see results everyday. Oh, by the way, I did weigh 260 pounds, 5'7", permanently disabled, have lupus, and had a baby 19 months ago. How is that for encouragement? This program rocks- you feel so good about yourself when you can finally do a whole minute that isnt beginner. Today, i noticed my waistline in my shadow. I got curves again- I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS! I have been taking it at my own limits, doing modified versions of exercises, and lovin every minute- welcome to the last workout and diet you will ever have to try honey. I had been eating healthy and working out hard, six days a week, at the gym when I saw Barry's Bootcamp on TV. I had lost weight and gained muscle but hit a plateau that had lasted three weeks. I needed to lose just under 20 more pounds and I was stuck and unhappy. I ordered BBC right away. In a nut shell these workouts will melt fat and sculpt your body and you should see results after the first week! After 30 days you'll be thrilled. All you have to do is follow the plan. Do the workouts and eat right. No going hungry, you'll eat small meals about every three hours. Barry's booklet that comes with BBC will help you, telling you what types of food to eat and when to eat it. The workouts are great, you'll sweat, you should be sore at first (it's a good sore) but it's fun and when you see results it makes you want to do it more! After just a few DAYS I couldn't fit into my shorts any more! Inches and pounds were melting away and I saw muscles I didn't know I had! They gym didn't do anything for my abs. I have had seven kids (3 + 2 sets of twins) and I had a lot of belly to lose. Belly is gone and the muscles look great! My "saddle bags" are gone from my thighs too. For the first time since I was a kid, I have a butt with a normal (sexy) shape/size! I am in better shape than before I had my kids. Barry's Bootcamp really sculpts your body. And girls, your muscles will not be bulky! At the gym my arms, butt and legs were bulky. I didn't like that. There is also a great website with lots of great support! Oh, by the way, the transformer ball is huge. You just have to keep pumping it up. I reached my goal fast, I lost more weight/inches than I thought I could, and I still do Barry's Bootcamp five nights a week. I love it and will do it forever! There are other DVD's you can order in the future, after your 30 days, so you can mix it up. They are all amazing!

I started Barry's BootCamp on August 1st, and as of today I am down 14 pounds! Barry is always there to help you if you have any questions along the way! I have tried a lot of different things, and yes they took the weight off, but nothing that has ever been life changing and transformed my body like BootCamp.

If you don't think you can do it just try it for the first 6 days. After that you will see a change and then try it for another 6 days! NO MATTER HOW HARD IT MAY BE STICK WITH IT! After no time at all you will wake up wanting to do this workout everyday!

Now I'm sure you are all reading this and saying, "Well you are young and have energy!" NOPE! I was the laziest person alive. I would eat like crazy fried food, sugar, salt. And after I did my 30 days of BootCamp, with a GOOD diet, I felt like I could take on the world! The other day I was telling a friend I want to take up kickboxing! She didn't even know who she was talking to! Today I spend less time in front of the TV and more time working out.

Barry has even helped me quit smoking! Okay well I haven't quit 100% yet but I'm VERY VERY close! And it's all thanks to Barry Jay.

And no I don't work for the company, and no, no one paid me to say this, no I'm not a "plant", and yes I'm a really person who use to have no self-esteem because of the way I looked.

BUY IT! It will change your life! If it doesn't you have nothing to lose cause they will give you your money back. GET OFF THE COUCH AND START CHANGING YOUR LIFE!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!

6.) BootCamp Bliss
Reviewed by: WhizKid21 NYC
Rating:
I bought Barry's BootCamp for about $50 at Sports Authority. I have been doing it for just over 2 weeks and have already lost 7 lbs with minimal change to a relatively healthy diet.

I knew Barry's BootCamp would work, because about a year ago, I bought BeachBody's P90 workout system and lost 25 lbs doing that and playing ice hockey. Unfortunately, I broke my kneecap playing ice hockey and gained the weight back and wasn't able to excercise for a year.

So why not just do P90 again? Even though its effective, it's boring. You do the same move for 2 - 3 minutes, then another move... Then repeat the same two moves. It's a snoze.

With Barry's Boot Camp, the moves last for a minute... That's it... No repeat... No boredom.

The other thing that's pretty impressive about Barry's BootCamp is for $50 or $60 you get everything you need to do the program:

1. 2 workout DVDs... With one main workout... And then a beginner and advanced workout for ab, upper body and lower body

2. 2 exercise bands and a great set of adjustable handles...

3. An extra "Code Red" DVD workout which is suppose to supercharge your weight loss - which I have not even bothered opening yet.

4. The transformer - it looks dumb and goofy, like an oversized pill, but it works WONDERFULLY! (More on it later)

So you get a lot for your money, and don't have to buy anything else for your workout... Unlike the BeachBody stuff, where you need dumbells, or bands (which were not included when I bought it)

The Transformer - you can use it in a million different ways. It's more practical and useful then a regular swiss ball... Everything you do on that thing becomes a ab/ core exercise.

And about Barry - yes the personality of the people on the tape matters... Tony Horton was cool... Barry and Cindy are better. They are not obnoxious, they are not super-charged or annoying. I like them better than the BeachBody stuff... Tony Horton would talk to himself... Kinda boring. Cindy and Barry kind goof around. I mean it's not Comedy Central funny, but it keeps you engaged.

Another plus... All the workouts are completely scalable. So in other words, after you get good at doing the 21 minute workout... You can make it more challenging by using a different band, strething the band more etc... Instead of say... Shelling out another $100 for P90X, lol ;-)

I really thought the claims on their website were overblown... It seemed like their people were losing a LOT of weight really quickly... Too quick. I should be 10 pounds lighter by the end of 3 weeks... Thanks for a great product.

One complaint - Truth in advertising - When I saw the infomercial, the workouts were supposed to be 21 minutes... The main workout is 21 minutes... However, after week 1 you are expected to start doing one of the additional workouts (abs, upper or lower body), then 2 in week 2 and all three in week three)... You WILL lose weight if you do just the 21 minute workout... But you will lose it slower, obviously.

So yes, Barry's BootCamp gets 5 stars.

This is by far the best DVD workout I have ever used. It's tough, but the whole concept of 60 second exercises really works. I've had the system for almost 2 months now and I've lost 4 inches off my waist and just over 20 pounds.

Barry is entertaining to watch and the variety of workouts keeps things from getting boring. I've always had a gym membership, but I never pushed myself as hard as these workouts do.

5 Stars +++++

Okay, LOVE the workout and WILL use it frequently... problem is that if you have a defective band (like me) apparently you have to return THE ENTIRE ORDER and then RE-ORDER!?! The reason I keep getting (which makes NO sense to me!) is that the "... inventory is constantly changing..." (so? LOL) Anyway, check your bands thoroughly BEFORE YOU BOTHER blowing up your transformer, etc. Oh, and speaking of the transformer.... I keep seeing problems that its way smaller than in the video/on the informercial.... in the booklet it says to blow it up so that its 67" in circumference and 22" tall.... IMPOSSIBLE to do! I just went by the circumference alone and am hoping this is just a typo (and my transformer doesn't blow up!!!!) Good luck!

I have recently finished my first 30-days and I feel great. I do believe I get a better fat-burning workout from the videos than I ever could have at the gym. I initially ordered the basic system but I am ordering the complete set of bands from the Barry's Bootcamp site because I am ready to move up from the green band. But in one word it is convenience, because there have been times I have had to change when I workout and how long I workout. I just think this program and DVD's are awesome. Thank you Barry!

Hey, we've all tried to lose weight. What I like about this program is that I can login and share my results with other users of the system. I have spent quite a bit of time making a web page on their site to share my information. You can read the page detailing my progress, goals, food plan and more under my user name of Stronglkbull ([...]).

I have lost 11 pounds in the first month, and plan to lose another 30 by mid December. I hope to finish up with losing 60 pounds total by mid February 2009. The forum stuff costs a little more but it's well worth it to me since any words of encouragment from others is really helpful to stay on track. If you get the system, feel free to add me as a friend on the forum right off the bat.

The store on Barrysbootcamp.com might be better if you want to get some of the other stuff at a discount in your first order. Also, get clarification about what is in your package ordering from here before you order by comparing it to [...] website. From reading another review, it sounds like the Amazon description isn't correct and the package is for the basic system like in the infomercial. So, just see what's in the basic package on [...] before you try to save a little money here.

Someone else mentioned that their workout transformer is small. A couple other people on the bootcamp forums have have other issues as well. Most likely they will replace it for you. My Transformer is just fine.

As for doing the dips on the Transformer, I don't even do those yet on the Transformer since I'm not that far along yet. Take it easy when you use this system and start slow. There are three different people you can keep pace with in the videos and if I recall the beginner person for people starting really out of shape like me doesn't even use the Transformer for the more difficult stuff.

As with any video, pretty soon you will have most of the routines memorized, so I have already turned down the audio and just follow along while listening to audio books and my music. I'll probably turn on the audio from time to time just to remind me of the details.

This is an excellent product for it's brevity and portability. It only takes 21 minutes and gives cardio and strength both. If you're looking for easy, forget it! I am overweight, and my husband is in pretty good shape. We can BOTH USE IT and have improvement in srength and fitness. He works up a substantial sweat, and is breathing hard by the time he's finished. I am inclined to pause the video and take it at a slower pace.

I like that we can take this on vacation (where we usually gain a few pounds) and pop it in the DVD player and keep the routine up with a minimum time commitment - then off to play and have fun.

One thing I don't like is that the "beginner" person is not put into the frame until later in the exercise. Several seconds and a couple of reps have passed before you see the modification for beginners. After watching a few times you can catch on, but watch the tape through at least once if you need to do the beginner modifications or you'll be frustrated.

The other thing I liked was the 15-day free membership to Dr. Gourmet. I am foody...I love to eat & cook, so changing what I ate didn't thrill me. But this site is deliciously wonderful! This workout is awesome!! I don't really care about the weight that much - but I have been working out with barry's bootcamp for like 3 months now - and I lost more than a dress size already. I see my body changing, muscles forming, abs sculpting - it is really cool!!! And after I did it for the first two days - I was swedding more and feeling my muscels working more than 2 hours in the gym!!! If you are worried about the exercises - don't be, since you have a choice or an option between 3 different versions of the same exercise - one for beginners, regular and advanced! So, there is something for everyone really! And it is fun to do - and really fast! My husband went to the gym, and it took him approximately 30 minutes to get there - and it felt so wonderful, that when he was just getting there and starting his workout - I was already done and showered!!! I would recommend this workout to really anyone! By the way - my husband, too started using the workoutsystem!

I knew I was in store for a rigorous workout. I was not disappointed. I had never sweated so much in my life! It was the best workout I had ever had. As an intermediate level exerciser (who hates cardio!) looking to lose the last five pounds/get some muscle definition, I have been very pleased with Barry's Bootcamp. I purchased it at Target and found the suggestion to inflate/deflate/re-inflate the Transformer did help increase the size over two days. I've used the program for three weeks now and have lost four pounds and am definitely noticing the beginning of muscle sculpting in my arms and abs. I get bored easily with workout DVD's and so far after hanging with Barry and Cindy for six days a week the last three weeks, I can honestly say the boredom level has not hit yet. There are modifications for all the programs, and I definitely need them at times- this is definitely a challenging workout. Interval training has recently been cited as the most effective method for weight loss and these DVD's use this approach (combination of cardio and sculpting exercises) for one minute intervals each. The lead instructor, Cindy is a good blend of fun and serious, not too perky. Barry is quite perky, but he means well and can actually be motivating when you feel like giving up. A few pointers he gives I find helpful, ex: "Work through the burn, not to the burn", "you can do anything for 60 seconds", etc. The only negative I have is that I workout in a low ceiling basement and a few exercises require jumping or holding the transformer ball over your head, so I have to modify these exercises for height. I have just tried the 6 day "emergency" Code Red DVD (leaving for vacation/bikini bound). It was challenging, but only 15 minutes. Then at the end Barry recommends doing the workout twice a day- yikes! I guess I'd rather do one longer session than fit in two. I might add the Red DVD in addition to the Fatblaster/Mission Specialist plan. After vacation, I plan to use the DVD's to supplement my exercise routine, not to use everyday in isolation. I definitely recommend this program, not a lot of investment, but good, quick pay-off!

I really do. It includes two Fat Blaster routines, one for lower body and one for upper. You do one minute of cardio then one minute of toning for a total of 21 minutes. There are six add on sections: two abs, two lower body, and two upper body. These are strictly toning and the add-ons conveniently are included on both discs (no switching DVDs in the middle of a workout). The equipment that comes with the DVDs is good quality. Some have complained their Transformer did not achieve the proper size; I blew mine up, waited a few days to pump up some more and then had no problem getting it to the proper size. For most exercises I substitute heavier handweights for the power bands to make it more appropriate for my fitness level. At first I found Barry a little annoying, but I got over it and I could just do these DVDs over and over. I definitely recommend.

The 20 minute exercise is perfect because once you commit to that you're hooked and can do more. I find myself reaching for this DVD when I think I don't have the time or energy to work out and there I go burning another 300 calories in 40 minutes (after I add in the abs or other ad-ons). This product is great! I got it about 3 weeks ago and already I am noticing results. I wasn't in bad shape before, but I wanted a way to get back into shape and tone up and look great for my upcoming wedding this summer. I was a star track and cross country runner in high school and ran for 2 years on my college team. Then I studied abroad and quit running while abroad. I never gained much weight, but I noticed that some parts of my body that were really toned started to become flabby. I also graduated from college almost a year ago and started working. Since then I haven't found much time to get back in shape like I planned on, but I saw this on an infomercial and decided to try it. It works! I am more toned and have lost a couple inches! I am getting the body back that I had in high school too, without all that running which is nice. Just stick to the plan and you will see results! It only takes 20 -30 mins. a day depending on which routines you pick. This is great for me because I have not time to get to a gym. It takes me 50 minutes to get home from work as it is and I usually work overtime too so that puts even more of a strain on my schedule. My fiance has noticed a difference too! I would say that it's definitely worth the money!

Before children, I worked out a lot at the gym, at least 1.5 hours each day, but after kids, as most of you probably know or can understand, your gym time is hard to come by, especially when you and your spouse work opposite shifts. So, I started Barry's Bootcamp and am at the end of my first week today. This is the best workout I've had since I had time to go to the gym. I sweat my tail off. And it's true: this work out takes less time than it does even to drive to the gym. I've tried other at home workout DVDs, but got bored really easily, within a day or two. So far, I really love this. I feel motivated to continue and actually look forward to doing so. My energy level is up (which helps with through-the-night baby feedings), my skin looks great again, and I'm in a better mood. I think once I lose the baby weight, I'll continue to do these for my strength training at home. They're great. Also, the meal plan is pretty easy to follow. the thing I hate about trying excercising videos/clubs, is that you NEVER know if a plus sized person can do the workouts. Some are VERY hard for just starting out! Now, I know showing a size 18 doing the workouts does not sell products, and obviously they are saying since they are doing the workouts, they are in shape! But when you are Big (and I am tall too!) you can't always do the excercises effectivly. You almost feel like FORGET IT! Because they make it for people that seem to be in somewhat good shape. But if this is you, like it is me, you can do this. And even though everyone says the transformer is smaller than on the video, I am 6 ft tall, and it works just fine. (althought I agree the tricep dips are too hard, so I used a chair) The key is to do the modified version. I was over 200 lbs and felt frustrated that I couldn't do it normally. But I tried to keep in mind it took me 3 years to put on the weight, it's gonna take time to take it off.I feel great every morning now, and want to get out and do something instead of staying in the house drinking coffee all day. I am pretty sore after the excercises, but it's a good sore! Barry is annoying at times, but he does distract you from the fact you are sweating and working hard. I only have one negative comment, which has been said before...I got my product off of Amazon.com-which was great!-but I didn't get the password for the VIP section of his website. Which is dissapointing!! I tried emailing them twice, but still no reponse from them! SO...other than that, I would recommend this product to ANYONE of any shape or size, and tell them, to start off slow. Reviewed by: Joanna Daneman Middletown, DE USA

Make no mistake, despite the fact this is yet another tv-mercial product that tempts the bored, late-night watcher, the program has real merit as a workout. Barry is a personal trainer to the stars and he puts together a workout you can probably do even in a Tokyo studio apartment, though you will annoy the neighbors when you do jumping jacks (just tell them it was a minor temblor.)

The kit comes with a capsule-style physio ball (the "transformer", hmph, ok) a step-pump, three dvds (upper, lower, and Hollywood Code Red) and two resistance tubes with a set of handles.

First, the accessories. The capsule ball is an Army-green ball, the kind that has the somewhat tacky surface (not shiny) and it is said to be big enough for a six-foot guy. Well, I am a six foot gal and it pumped up a tad small. I pumped it one day, left it sit and am pumping it further, but I have an existing non-burst capsule ball from Carnegie that I think is better made. For one thing, the seam is rather visible. Call me paranoid, but you REALLY have to pump this thing UP and I worry about bursting. I have heard some lore about these capsules being occasionally prone to splits and that the company will replace defective items. So far, so good for my "transformer" but it did not blow up so hugely as they said the first go-around.

You need the ball as a sort of bench because one of the exercises is a set of flyes using the resistance band tucked under the ball and the handles out to the side. You lie back on the ball and do the flyes (works the pecs) as if you were using dumbbells on a weight bench. I recommend you put the "transformer" on a yoga mat because if your balance is wonky, you will find that you wobble on the ball a bit. This is not a bad thing--anything that has you use more muscles to stabilize yourself makes the workout more effective. The resistance bands come in two strengths (green, long and light, black, shorter and more resistance.) Here's another issue. I'm pretty tall and my arms are rather long even for my height. I found that doing some of the overhead tricep pulls were difficult because the taller you are, the more you stretch the band to get to the right height. Barry is not so tall. His companions are shorter still. If you are short-ish, this is going to be GREAT for you. If you are as tall as my guy at home (6' 8") you will be s.o.l.

Re the bands: you can buy stronger ones from the Barry's website, and also get other DVD's, which I have not tried. You can also join a "VIP" club depending on how you bought the set (mine was local out of a department store, so I cannot. Phone orders apparently get a membership, and you can purchase one. I have not bothered.) There is also an online community of enthusiasts if you like to network online with other members.

Back to the bands: the handles on the resistance bands are a special stirrup shape made of rigid silver plastic with a round, rubber-covered handle. I like the fact they distribute the strain onto your forearms rather than into your hands alone as most resistance bands do. But I bruise rather easily, just the way I am, and the pressure of the bands and handles caused some bruising. If you are like me, you will want to wear something like wrist protectors and a thick shirt.

The workout requires you to set up the "transformer" and then jump up and do other resistance band set-ups with band around foot, wrapped around foot, standing on it, so if you are a bit clumsy, you may find you are scrambling to get set up while the workout is going on. On the "Missions" you get 12 exercises for 12 minutes (great for the time-pressed) and some of the time ticks away unless you can also cleverly hit the pause button on the dvd player.

Because the resistance bands pull tighter as you extend through the workout, the dynamic tension works the muscles DIFFERENTLY than a dumbbell (even weight throughout) --more like the Bowflex which uses a cable-sprung steel tension system, and not at all like kettlebells, which have an off-center weight that challenges the balance during lifting. The dynamic resistance caused me to absolutely feel the 12-minute upper arm (tricep, bicep, pectoral, lat) workout in one of the Missions, compared to a similar workout I do with dumbbells. I have had to up my dumbbell weights weekly, but this workout with the lightest band kicked my you-know-what. I was trembling after 12 minutes because the workout never lets up. You do reps non-stop for a minute, then you get a bit of rest as you move the band to set up for the opposing muscle group (ie, you do biceps, then on to triceps.)

This is a VERY good workout. You WILL feel it. It is also a nice change from standard weights due to the dynamic tension and balancing, which gives a different workout to your muscles. Trainers will tell you that changing up your routine shocks your muscles into growth and fitness. I certainly know for my body type (slow, strong) that I adapt rather quickly to weights and this workout was completely different for me. That's why the kettlebells are also a good adjunct. Swinging those is completely different than standard lifting.

The workout team (Barry and crew) chat you through the workout. Cindy Whitmarsh counts and leads, while Barry chats about being a 90 pound weakling (actually, 120 pound, living on sugar cubes) and this reminds me of working with a trainer who chats you through the tough stuff and distracts you until you are nearly fatigued, then you count ten seconds down to the end. A buzzer sounds and you have 10 seconds to finish, so you are encouraged to work through. It's very like having a trainer next to you. I like it.

There are a LOT of options to each DVD for upper and lower--full longer workout of the missions which are 12 minutes and who doesn't have 12 minutes, or you can do the 21 minute Hollywood "Code Red" to blast into shape. (That workout has more aerobics and jumping around, warning for those of you who cannot hop around for whatever reason.)

The only thing I didn't like was the quality of the DVD menu. It's cluttered and hard to choose which workout by reading the text (white on red background.) Annoyingly arranged, too.

This is a great idea for a small home gym in a bedroom and certainly a pleasant change from a regular gym workout. I like it and I'm happy to grab 12 minutes during my busy season at work to make sure I get a workout in. The adrenaline pumps after one of these workouts due to the dynamic tension from the resistance bands. My summary? A great workout, something in it to keep you from getting bored and seems effective.

This is an awesome workout. Really. I burn and hurt when I'm done, but I feel so pumped the next day. And I am NOT an avid exerciser. I don't think I've EVER exercised this hard.

I've already lost two inches off my waist, after only three weeks of dieting (trying to hover between 1250 and 1450 calories a day - but usually end up closer to 1650 - *sigh...) and Barry's Boot Camp. And usually I find myself "hangin' with Kat" because my knees and ankles just can't handle some of the jumping exercises. But still. I'm losin'. Sweatin' out the bad stuff, building my strength, and increasing my energy.

The reason I'm giving four stars, however, is because I bought this program directly through Barry's Bootcamp hotline. They delivered it to the wrong address, their customer service was awful, they insisted that they delivered it to my address, when they obviously did not. Eventually, after I contacted UPS on my own, I discovered that they'd delivered it across the street to my neighbor, and I just went over there and got it myself. I was also mad, because they had to "do an investigation" before they would send out a replacement, and I'd already spent about $76 to get them to expedite the program, and then discovered that I could have saved $20 and gotten it here on Amazon, and I know they would have delivered it to the right address!!

Buy here. Be careful about buying directly from Barry's site if you do.. And stick with it when you get it!! It's hard, yes. OMG it is so hard. But it is so worth it. You discover muscles you didn't even know you had! It's wonderful.

**A little revision to my prior review...after only three weeks, one of the power bands broke. Now today (a month after purchase) I go to my work-out room to find the transformer (work-out ball) deflated. One of the seams split, so there's no fixing it. I followed the assembly/inflating instructions to the letter. Let's see how the company handles this one. I'll revise my review after they respond to my e-mail about these items. I don't blame Amazon...NEVER had a problem with them. It's the company that manufactures the products.

This is a great work-out product for beginnners, as well as the more advanced work-out warrior. I have really bad knees, but find if I stick to at least some of the alternate moves, I'm okay (every exercise has an alternate move for either the beginner or person who has back/knee, etc. problems). I also like the fact that the main work-out is about 25 minutes (which is great for those days you don't have time for a full-blown hour routine but still want to do something), but each DVD also has six optional 12 minute "Mission Specialist" routines you can add for a longer work-out.

I bought this at a local TJ Maxx for $[...] figuring if it doesn't work I wouldn't be out a large sum of money. I just started this two days ago and can already feel the pain. I joined a gym 4 months ago and I have let out more sweat in one session of this program than I did in the 4 months I have been going to the gym. The DVD's are great and they give you a good guide to follow. This is especially useful for newbies so they have a sense of direction. The DVD's are set up like this: One upper body(21 mins#, one lower body#21 mins#, and 3 mission workouts #Abs, upper, lower - 12 mins each). Week one you alternate upper and lower for 6 days, break on the 7th day. Week two, same routine as week 1, but add one of the three 12 minute mission workouts at the end of each 21 minute session. You should do abs, lower, upper, abs, lower, upper for week 2, rest on the 7th day. Week 3 you do the same as week 2, but add two mission workouts, week 4 add all 3 mission workouts at the end.

I can honestly say the first week is rough, but you don't get bored and you are motivated because you know it is working. Barry is annoying sometimes but bearable and a good motivator. The woman host is also very good at motivating you.

All in all I would recommend this product to anyone looking to shed some lbs. I am 6'1 195lbs, male and it's a good supplement to the gym or a good primary workout to tone and lose those couple inches from the winter.

If you can find it for cheap like I did definitely pick it up and give it a try. Even for $[...] on Amazon its worth the money.

As a mother I found it really challenging to get a good workout in that was effective in helping shed the baby weight. I did the gym at 6am, I tried running with the stroller and mom/baby classes, which were all great but difficult to stick with. I saw this and was like, why not. Within the first 4 weeks I had lost 10 lbs! (granted right now at 12 weeks I have stalled out due to eating habits) but I still maintain by working out. I bet if I added another mission specialist I could kick this stalling.
Barry's Boot camp is great. You just have to get past that move for 1 minute and your on to something else. I despise push ups but I can do them if I think, "1 minute, 1 minute"
I was SUPER sore but sore is good! This is GOOD.
I would recommend this to anyone who is busy. You can do the whole DVD in no time. 21 minutes, 12, 12 and 12. You're dripping sweat after wards but you worked hard.
It's worth it. My only complaint is that it's just those same 2 DVD's... so it gets old fast.

I bought this a while back and used it to get ready for a Company Party my husband had coming up.. I can't remember if I lost weight but I was definitely looking and feeling more toned.. You could see the lines and some definition in my arms and stomach area ( even with being a little overweight) It was super hard for me at first as I was and am now way out of shape..So when I first started the dvd's I could only make it a little way through but I stuck with it and found my self doing the whole thing.. YEAH ME.. I did find the lunge's a little much for my knee's and you do some other things that are a little much for me too but overall it was fun and worked well..

The songs and talking does get old after a while but I just mute it and put my music on and go to town.. I like the interval training so you get a little of everything and it keeps it fun.. Just wish I could stick with something but the only thing I have found in my life that I have stuck to is walking and dancing around the house.. I put my head phones on and dance some slow song's some fast and let me tell you it is great no equipment to buy... Just get down don't hold nothing back.. It is fun and I use every muscle in my body...

Overall I would recommend this just make sure you have good knees to do all the lunging and jumping and make sure you have enough room too use the transformer ball and jump up and down with out knocking stuff down...The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the talking gets annoying (although after first it was really encouraging) and because the lunges and jumping was not for me..

I ordered this after seeing his info-mercial and reading some of the reviews. I really try to do the more advanced moves as much as possible, but it is hard if you have the joints of a person over 40. They have a less impact person to follow on the dvd, for those of us that are unable to do those moves. It really gets your heart rate up and makes you sweat in the short workout. I can not post great results, as I have only done two of the workouts and have had it for at least two weeks. The first week you are supposed to do just the 21 minute workout, six days a week. The second week you are supposed to add an 11 minute upper, lower, or ab workout to the 21 minute workout. The third week you are supposed to add two of the 11 minute workouts to the 21 minute one. The fourth week you add three 11 minute workouts to the 21 minute one. So really you are not just doing a 21 minute workout as they would have you believe. That is okay, because I realize you won't get the best results just doing 21 minutes six days a week. I really love the power cords and the bullet. Even if I do not follow the dvd regimen, I can do some targeted excercises with the equipment provided and be satisfied with my purchase. I was amazed when I did the lower body tape how sore it made my thighs and rear. I have the hardest time finding excercies at home to work those areas, and I feel that this helps me get the resistance needed to achieve results in my lower body. Over all I am happy with my purchase. The bullet does take up a lot of space though.

I received this as a present from my parents for Valentine's Day. My mother purchased it from Target. The tube ball is as large as on the video, but it doesn't say,"Barry's Bootcamp" on it like in the picture. I find that to be a little odd. I wonder if it's a knock off? The quality feels high. I like that he gives a code red workout, but feel that the meal plan skimps on vegetables. It definitely incorporates clean eating, which will help the pounds fall away anyway (I've lost 15 pounds by doing sit-ups and clean eating). All-in-all, I'm excited to use these DVDs. I'm fighting a cold now so I'm going to wait until I'm feeling better to get started. I'll give an honest update on what I think about the workout after I use these DVDs for a week.

Onto the workout: All I can say is WOW! I sweated so hard and now I am sore. I really love this workout. I wish it was a little longer (I'm crazy I know) I'll have to add 30 minutes of cardio a day to keep my heart healthy, but I will definitely lose weight with these dvds. After the first workout, I was side-lined for 4 weeks. My right knee gave out, very painful. I contacted BB's website and "he" suggested I take vitamin supplements for joints and then mysteriously my blog disappeared from the website. There's alot of jumping for the cardio portions. If you decide to get this set and have even slight knee problems (maybe from lots of prior step aerobics and squats!)use the modified version of the jumping exercises. Otherwise this workout does work for weightloss and endurance.

Barry's Boot camp is a reasonable value at $60. You receive two resistance bands with interchangeable handles, a large capsule shaped ball, and pump, in addition to the workouts, which include, as promised, three discs. There is also a small manual and poster, but very little printed support. You get the basic 21 min. upper and lower body 14 one minute exercises. Each DVD has the same six additional 12 minute "mission specialist" workouts. these are upper lower and abd, beginner and advanced, eight one min w/outs. This is enough to keep you busy and get in shape, pretty well. the bonus, red carpet w/out is a combo of all these. The online support is a carrot on a string because it's free for 14 days then like 10 bucks a month. let's see if I can continue to get to it and change my body. I've never been much for following dvd's before, so these are pretty good after two weeks. They do make it fun as opposed to the Firm, which although very good, is prep school proper, in comparison.

The seller was unable to do anything for me, unless I wanted to return the whole product. It is a great workout but as other people mention it is only 21 minutes for the first week. After that it increases by 12 minutes every week after. I would recommend the product to people who dont plan on using it as a system. I think it is better suited for someone that just wants to maintain their weight or work out a few times a week.

I have been working out for almost four months and have lost a total of 30 pounds (I started at 218) due to diet and exercise. Like most exercise regiments, you eventually reach that dreaded plateau which I was coming toward. I bought the Barry's Bootcamp series because I wanted to change up my routine and get toned. I have to say that it is a good product but I was not overall impressed by it. I found Barry to be annoying and obnoxious which kept me distracted during my workouts as he kept flirting with the trainer in the DVDs. What really irked me was that he did not even do the routines especially since it is his program! Aside from that, you get a really good workout and sweat up a storm. The nutriton plan is okay but not practical for everyone. Some days I can average about eating 1000 calories but for my height and age (I'm 5'10 and 35 years) I feel much better and more healthier consuming 1300 to 1500 calories (while being active) and still manage to lose weight. As a beginner, you definitely have to modify the activities (the low impact levels are not too bad but I didn't get much of a sweat out of it).

I do not believe the claims that you would automatically get abs. I have been working out my abs for months and still have yet to achieve a six pack and yes, I have been watching my diet! Certainly you will have a shrinking stomach but it seems you have to intensify your workouts hardcore and risk injury in order to achieve that kind of physique. Like any workout plan, you will lose weight and get toned but it is different for everyone so those pictures of the people on the box who looked ripped are going to vary from person to person. Like the disclaimer says, "results may vary."

Though Barry has some faults, it is not bad product. The resistance bands are great and I can really feel the tension when I'm working out with them. I do caution using the transformer though. Be sure to pump it enough so that it is firm when you do the exercises. If it is too soft, that inflatable yoga ball tends to roll when you are using the resistance bands and it is not good good for your back! Overall, I would say the product is okay but don't believe all the hype surrounding it!

I ordered this product because I don't have time to go the gym. First of all - honestly if you have knee problems just stick to the modified moves for the lunges. After 2 weeks I was limping and had to take a break. Of course it made it harder to motivate and restart.

Second - after a month (which as I've mentioned I was not using the ball) I restarted my workout. The next day I noticed that my ball had deflated. It had split along the seam. When I examined it I noticed that the seam was shoddy - you know when you pull a plastic bag and it kind of thins out - well along the seam there were all these thinned out section and that is where the split occurred.
I called customer service and explained but apparently though I owned it barely two months it wasn't covered by warranty. I was happily informed that I could purchase another ball, which along with S&H would be about $50. I explained that it was not right that I should be penalized for an obviously defective ball. I got the 'we'll email the corporate office on your behalf and get back to you' or as I call it - get off my phone. Over two weeks later I'm still waiting to hear back.

So beware - they give you a month warranty even if the product is defective and a replacement ball with shipping is 10 dollars less than the cost of the product. They didn't even want to check to see if they had sent a defective ball. It probably was a knock off as it didn't even have the Barrys Bootcamp stamp they show in the picture and on the balls they use in the video.

I do like the videos - but for all the money you spend the quality of the products are poor and customer service is unresponsive.

This was a five star review up until about day 26,the day my black resistance band snapped. I wasn't too worried as I knew that I could log onto Amazon and order the four band set and still work with the green band in the interim. This is where my luck, and my review changed.

I ordered the four band set and recieved only the black and the green bands. No big deal. I think I'll just call Optimax Fitness, the marketers of Barry's Bootcamp and they'll ship me out the remaining two bands. How stupid was I?

I have e-mailed and spoke to Optimax customer service several times with the only response being that it was Amazon's problem and I would need to contact them. I ask how can it be an Amazon problem when the order was filled and shipped from your warehouse not an Amazon warehouse (which was later confirmed by Amazon customer service). Today, day 30, the green band also snapped.

Needless to say, I will be returning my partial shipment to Amazon for a full refund. Boy am I glad I bought at Amazon and not the Optimax site.

I even asked if I had to cancel it to ensure they didn't charge me and she said no. Yes, I should have known better. But then a $32 bill showed up on my credit card and supposedly the only way to cancel is through the internet on a specific webpage.

Maybe purchasing it through Amazon avoids this issue since they need your email and/or phone number and zipcode in order to setup the VIP access.

Please Please, read information on the internet about so many other people that have run into the same problem with Barrys Bootcamp. Its not worth the headache of the credit card bills. In fact, I plan on adding to my comment here, if the charges have not stopped even from me canceling it through the web.
