I started looking for a heartrate monitor only and th eFT60 was continually recommended but I continued to search through all brands as well as all of Polar's other watches. I ended up back at the FT60 and have been working out with it now for about 3 weeks. I have no problems whatsoever with the watch and love all of the functions for tracking your progress and getting motivation. After setting a weekly goal and then exceeding it the watch sent me a message on the first day of the next week congratulating me on my Excellent work and recapping all of my goals and actual stats for the previous week. It even sent me a little trophy. Positive reinforcement from a watch! Now if I could only find a toaster to tell me I'm pretty I would be very happy!
2.) Great HRM

I'm very glad I finally decided on purchasing the FT60 vs another Polar model I had been considering. I use it daily for my walks/workouts and it keeps me motivated. Very easy to understand and the band across the chest fits very comfortably (I tend to forget I have it on). I would definitely recommend it. I thank the people who wrote their reviews because that helped me take the plunge and purchase it.

Overall, the FT60 is great - it truly helps me keep track of my workouts and let's me aim for a tangible goal.
The only thing that irks me is that I can't see my time remaining/time completed for the week unless you've just finished a workout. It would be nice to see it when needed so workouts could be planned.

The heart rate monitor is great for showing the 3 levels of my workout. There are so many options that I'm still learning how to use it effectively. The shipper was helpful in helping to find and send me the watch after it got tied up in the shipping process.
6.) Not a personalized training program.

I was looking for a HRM with "Personal Trainer" features, googled it and found the FT60. I read some great reviews and decided to go for it.
And it's not what I was hoping for.
The STAR program sets out weekly targets but it doesn't tell me the number of sessions I should train nor how long I should stay in each zone per session.
I see myself trying to fulfill my weekly targets on the last day of the week.
What I wanted was a heart rate monitor that:
1) According to my current fitness level and goals (weight loss, maximize fitness, etc) set out the days of the week I should be training (e.g. Sat, Tue, Thu) or just the number of sessions per week would make me happy as well.
2) For each session set out specific goals, e.g.
a. 10 min in zone 1 (warm up),
b. 20 min in zone 2
c. 5 min zone 3
d. Back to zone 2 for 10 min
e. 10 min zone 1 (cool down)
This is just an example; the zones should be according to my goals and fitness level or customizable.
Another basic feature would be if I'm supposed to be in zone 2 and I'm in zone 1, the watch should start beeping or something, but for that the 2nd point should be a reality.
Maybe I should've done a little more research before buying it but telling me: workout 3h this week (1h in zone plus 1:30 in zone 2 and 30min in zone 3) and nothing more and calling it a "personalized training program" is not ok in my book.
To wrap it up, I prefer the FT60 than just a regular HRM but this is not, in any way or form, something remotely similar to a personalized training program.
Features of Polar FT60 Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Black)
Helps improve fitness and keeps users motivated with the new Polar STAR training program, which adapts to the user's personal exercise habits, providing weekly feedback and updated goals
The smartest way to better fitness, the Polar FT60 women's heart rate monitor watch helps you stay motivated and improve your conditioning. The FT60 works by first checking your daily condition, and then guiding you to the ideal training intensity for your age and fitness level. Knowing your heart rate not only helps you reach your personal fitness goal, but also improves your physical condition in general, as it's vitally important to train at the appropriate intensity level. If you exercise too hard, you may quit before you reach the real benefit, but if you work out too leisurely, you'll struggle to lose weight at all. The FT60 helps overcome these problems by encouraging you to map out a complete fitness routine.
The FT60 is packed with innovative training features to help you toward your exercise goals. First off, the watch includes a Polar Star personalized training program that adapts to your workout habits. By giving you weekly training targets and providing constant feedback, the watch guides you without being too strict, helping you reach your goals more efficiently. The watch also displays heart rate info in several ways, including as a percentage of your maximum heart rate, as beats per minute, and within a graphical target zone indicator. And should your heart rate exceed or dip below your target zone, the FT60 will sound an alarm that helps you return to form.
Users will also love the variety of proprietary Polar functions, including ZonePointer, Polar OwnZone, and Polar OwnCal modes. The ZonePointer is an audible and visual feature on the display of your FT60 that shows you where your current heart rate sits within your target heart rate zone. The Polar OwnZone mode, meanwhile, provides a customized target zone for individual exercise sessions. Finally, the Polar OwnCal mode shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session, as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. You can also set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure, helping you achieve both short-term and long-term goals.
Other features include support for the G1 GPS sensor (sold separately); a built-in fitness test that measures your aerobic fitness at rest in just five minutes; a ZoneLock mode that lets you activate a target zone in the midst of training with the press of a button; an OwnCode mode that prevents crosstalk from other heart rate monitors nearby; a recording mode that tracks your average and maximum heart rate, calorie expenditure, distance, and total exercise time, and then puts it in an exercise file (with 100 total files); water resistance to 30 meters; a 12/24-hour clock with a day/week indicator; a built-in backlight; an alarm with a snooze; a low battery indicator; and a Polar FlowLink connection for transferring data between the FT60 and a computer. Sporting an attractive black housing, the watch carries a two-year warranty.
Manufacturer's Warranty
