1.) First Heart Rate Monitor

This is my first heart rate monitor and I bought it because I'm trying to get fit and loose just a few pounds. I take a lot of classes at the gym and wanted more than just an estimate of how many calories I had burned during class so I started looking for an HRM. Most are SO expensive though so I waited and found this one at a special rate for one day at another website so I bought it.
I have been completely pleased with it! Since it has a chest strap it takes your heart rate continuously and it will beep at you if you're above or below your target zone. (You can shut the beeping off though. :o)) This is great because you need to know if you should be kicking it up a notch! This HRM also sync's up with your workout machines automatically so your heart rate is displayed on the machine (no more holding sweaty handlebars!). It was really easy to figure out and program with my info and the manual is pretty straight forward. I was a little worried that having a chest strap on while I'm all sweaty would be really annoying but it's comfortable enough that you don't even notice it. Also, the strap is adjustable so it really fits almost everyone. It will fit really large people to small people. The best part though for me is that it counts calories accurately; it's great knowing how much you're actually burning! In a one hour workout session the difference between how many calories I actually burned and what the machine at the gym said was around 125 calories, that's a little too far off for me. This is a must for anyone who is trying to loose weight or just get fit!
The ONLY thing I don't like about it is that the watch is a little clunky on my tiny wrists but I can't complain because this watch is uni-sex, it wasn't made specifically for women.
2.) Works great!

Works as advertised. Lots of features makes it tricky to master. Can set custom profile (height/weight/sex/fit level, desired warm-up times, et al.). Gives calorie [burned] count, above/in/below training zone times, etc. Memory feature lets you review your workouts for the week. Uses standard battery that's easy to find (haven't owned it long enough to give good battery life prediction). Great backlight. Chest strap does slide down slightly until I get a good workout going (sweat), but that's to be expected.
Would be nice if it: had lap splits on the crono, had more than one alarm, also displayed current time when in crono/count-down timer modes.

4.) A good inexpencive option

I bought this watch about 6 months ago and it has worked quite well for me. I use it as a HRM and watch for my runs. I have not used it cycling or swimming. The functions are easy to use, and the watch has enough memory for a lot of runs so I don't need to log every day. The heart rate is not perfect but it gives a good gage to health and progress. I like that you can toggle to the time setting and still have the Chronometer running. I don't use the warm-up/training functions. For a casual exerciser or one who just needs a simple HRM this is a good option.
5.) Better than I thought

I wanted a monitor watch so I'd know how many calories I burn during aerobics. I bought this watch on sale for $39.99 but didn't realize it came with a strap that you have to wear around your chest. At first I was concerned and thought I would have to return it, but it's worked out great! Like another reviewer said, the strap is adjustable and so comfortable, I almost forget I'm wearing it. The watch is wonderful. It tells me how fast my heart is going and how many calories I've burned. I'm really, really pleased with this product!
6.) Syncs with Treadmills and Ellipticals

I wanted a HRM but I didn't want to spend top dollar for a Polar product - but I also wanted one that transmitted to the treadmill so I didn't have to hang on and run. I was pleasantly surprised to note that this HRM transmits to most treadmills and elliptical machines automatically.
You definitely need to refer to the manual to learn how to work this - but I think it's a pretty good deal!

8.) Good, Affordable Option

I bought this to wear when taking classes at the gym, running, cycling, and swimming. I got this on super sale on another web site for $20, and after I got it set up, mine has worked well for me for all those activities (even swimming). It does seem to go through batteries pretty quickly, but I do use it almost every day, so maybe that's why. Also, occasionally when I am really close to someone else with another heart rate monitor on, my watch will have trouble picking up the correct signal. Generally, it's not a problem, unless my spin bike is really close to someone with another watch or at the starting line of a race, where you have a lot of people packed in very close together. For $20, I can't complain. :)

My wife wanted this but is already wishing she hadn't bought it. It works while she is walking but loses contact with her skin when she jogs. My wife is not large or too skinny so be ware. You get what you pay for.
10.) Unreliable but inexpensive.

Bought this HRM a few months ago and have used it on almost every run. I run about 15-20 miles each week on about 3-4 runs. The strap doesn't stay up when I run fast and sometimes the heart rate shows 240 or even 0, and as soon as I stop it goes to my actual rate. Benefits are it shows calories burned per workout and total calories burned until rest all while saving each workout. At the gym the strap sends the HR information to the computer on the machine which is a nice feature.
Overall this HRM is on the very low end of capabilities and watches (no splits), but considering the advanced ones are 4-5 times the price, this is "you get what you pay for" item.
11.) Suddenly not working

Up until this past week I would have given it a great review, but last week it stopped working. For a couple of days it was really slow to find my heartrate but once it got going it worked as usual. But for my last 4 or 5 workouts it has read 0 heartrate the entire time and of course did not log any calories burned.
I am sending it in for repair/replace since it is still under warrany, so hopefully it's just a fluke and the next one/repaired one will work fine. But I am not too hopefull because I know a few other people who had the same problem with theirs. I've only had it for six months.
When it was working though I loved it. Once you read the directions it's easy to use, and from the few times that it has worked at the gym (I recently joined a gym so it's only worked a couple of times since joining) it has been consistent with what the machines say.

I don't think this is a good product because the heart rate doesn't show at all - lots of information that I don't want shows though!! The only use I have for it is as a wristwatch and it's really ugly.
